National hiking day postponed to 4 September 2021

Tuesday, 05. May 2020

The «Schweizer Familie» together with the local organisers in the Engadine have decided to postpone the «13th National Hiking Day of the Schweizer Familie» from 5 September 2020 to 4 September 2021. This decision was taken on the basis of the Covid-19 situation, taking into account the uncertainty about the Federal Council's conditions in this regard.

Even if the Federal Council were to grant permission to organise large-scale events with more than a thousand people from September 2020, the «Schweizer Familie» and the host, the three lake communities of St. Moritz, Sils and Silvaplana, would like to refrain from holding them this year for safety reasons. The health of all participants and involved parties comes first.

The «Schweizer Familie» and the holiday region Engadin are looking forward to a carefree and cheerful hiking day in September 2021! Our sponsors Appenzeller Bier, Rukka and Pernaton will also support us in 2021.

About the national hiking day

Traditionally, three different hikes are at the centre of the day, in which you can take part free of charge and without advance notice. The hikes are offered several times a day and are sometimes accompanied by prominent «hiking gods and goddesses».
