Successful Engadin Bike Giro 2020

Monday, 13. July 2020

The Engadin Bike Giro took place in Silvaplana from 10th to 12th July. It was the first stage race after the Corona lockdown in Central Europe. Alessandra Keller and Simon Vitzthum secured overall victory in the three-day stage race. Elisabeth Brandau and Julian Schelb both finished third.

From Friday, July 10 to Sunday, July 12, 2020 the Engadin Bike Giro took place for the fifth time around Silvaplana and St. Moritz. It was only in June that the organisers had given the green light for the event to take place - on the premise that the usual hygiene measures would be observed and the number of participants (around 500) restricted.

The first stage, covering 34.9 kilometres and 1,234 metres in altitude, started on Friday in St. Moritz-Dorf. The second stage on Saturday, with start and finish on Lake Silvaplanersee near the Mulets sports centre, covered 71.2 kilometres and an altitude difference of 2,549 metres. The final stage on Sunday was also the start and finish at the Silvaplanersee sports centre, with another 63.4 kilometres and 1,910 metres of altitude difference to be completed in a demanding terrain against a breathtaking backdrop.
