The hiking trails network of the Engadin encompasses approximately 500 kilometers of marked trails leading you along lakes, following the famous “Via Engiadina” or heading off into one of the side valleys. A wealth of flora and fauna and the diversity of springtime in the mountains make Silvaplana and the local mountain Corvatsch a popular hiking destination. There is something for everyone: the more ambitious can take the challenging routes up to the Piz Surlej or Piz Julier, whereas families follow the “Marmottins” trail leading to the most beautiful viewpoints around Silvaplana. Silvaplana Explorer

The hiking map "Silvaplana Explorer" is ideal for families and takes you on great hiking tours to the most beautiful viewpoints in Silvaplana: Fratta, Ova dal Sagl, Murtèl, Crap Alv, Crest'Alta and Tschüchas. The marmot Niculin

At each vantage point you can scan a QR code on the viewing board. This gives you access to Niculin's story. The marmot from the former marmot colony of Silvaplana tells you how he woke up alone after hibernation and wants to find his colony again.  

Hikes for families

The hike from the Murtèl middle station on Corvatsch to the Furtschellas middle station is an easy, beautiful hike. All along the way you can enjoy a great view of the Upper Engadine lake landscape.

Corvatsch mountain railway

With the hiking ticket and Engadin hiking pass you can get from the valley to the mountain and back during the summer months. You can find the summer timetable here. 

Our tip: A walk from Murtèl to Fuorcla Surlej: guaranteed to be one of the most beautiful places in the Engadine. If you like, extend the hiking route to Val Roseg and Pontresina.

Experience Silvaplana

Silvaplana is located in the heart of the Upper Engadine lake landscape, surrounded by impressive three-thousand-meter peaks such as the local mountain Corvatsch with the highest panorama restaurant at 3303 m above sea level.

In Silvaplana and the surrounding area you will find many children's playgrounds and barbecue areas for a cosy family trip. The pirate ship at the PappaLoù restaurant and café is a real highlight for young visitors: there they can discover the adventures of Captain Lou and his crew.
