Musical Campus 3303

Monday, july 13 2020 – Saturday, july 18 2020

In the summer of 2020, musical performers have the opportunity to expand their knowledge in an inspiring mountain setting. Taking place in Silvaplana in the Upper Engadin, the Musical Campus 3303 is a 5 day master class, the first of its kind in the german speaking area and is run by a top-notch artist team. The open air concert “The Night of the Musicals” is the highlight of the event. Partner to the Musical Campus 3303 is the St. Gallen Theater.

A 5 day further training course for musical performers will take place from July 13th until July 18th, 2020 in Silvaplana. The main focus of the program is on singing and acting but also entails many supplementary lectures. Anyone with a musical degree is eligible. 18 participants will be chosen from registrations sent in before February 29th, 2020.

Artistic directors are the German director and author Gil Mehmert and the Dutch conductor and arranger Koen Schoots. Gil Mehmerts’ works include stage versions of film material, elaborate Open Air productions such as Elisabeth at the Castle Schönbrunn in Vienna as well as the staging of numerous musicals. Koen Schoots was bandmaster at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt, at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen, at the Deutscher Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf and also worked as guest conductor in various theatres all over Europe, Asia and the US. From 2010 until 2017, he was musical director at the Vereinigten Bühnen in Vienna.

The St. Gallen Theater is a partner of the Musical Campus. “The participants benefit from the excellent competence of both directors. We are delighted we were able to win them over” says Werner Signer, Managing Director of the St. Gallen Theater.

Performance on the Night of the Musicals

The musical course is also a big asset to the region. On Friday, July 18th, the participants will perform at an open air gala concert “The Night of the Musicals” on the village square in Silvaplana. The entrance is for free, anyone interested is invited to come.

The inspiring area of Silvaplana should also serve as a base for future Musical Campus 3303 events. “The beautiful landscape of Silvaplana is full of energy and an inspiring place to be, therefore the perfect setting for intensive musical workshops. This will definitely not be the last Musical Campus” says the mayor Daniel Bosshard.
